FAQ

  • What are some of the issues you work with?

I specialize in working with motivated adults who have experienced invalidating relationships. These may have been in childhood, with family or close others, or they may be friendships or romantic relationships in adulthood. These types of relationships can have a profound impact on how we feel about ourselves and therefore how we interact with the world around us.

I also feel called to work with individuals who are struggling with identity, whether due to a life change, transition or life circumstances. If you’re asking yourself “who am I? what is my true self?”, you may be in the right place!

Mostly, I work with the impact — whatever got you here, if you’re feeling stuck, lost, misunderstood, and want to dig into the roots of your suffering to truly understand yourself, we may be a good fit.

  • What is "depth work"?

The word “depth” serves as a metaphor for the parts of ourselves that lie beneath the surface—those aspects not immediately visible or measurable, yet profoundly real. Picture an iceberg: only a small section rises above the water, while the vast majority remains unseen below. In a similar way, much of the human psyche—our motivations, dreams, memories, and the inner patterns that shape us—exists outside of conscious awareness.

Depth psychology explores this hidden landscape. It encourages us to wonder: What is happening beneath our everyday reactions and emotions? Which unconscious patterns are guiding our lives? And how might we begin to listen to them, rather than overlook them?

Depth and psychoanalytic therapies have been used for over one hundred years- because they work!

  • What other therapeutic techniques do you use?

In addition to my orientation to psychoanalytical depth work, I am trained in the following theories or techniques, and I sprinkle these ideas into our work as needed!

-DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy)

    -Trauma certified and informed

    -Motivational Interviewing

-Gottman (relationship theory) and EFT (emotion focused therapy)

    -Mindfulness based therapy

    -IFS (“parts work”)

  • How does Ketamine Help with Therapy?

In the last twenty years, there has been an increase in research around psychedelics; this developing body of research is beginning to empirically demonstrate that psychedelics have the potential to accelerate, deepen, and assist therapeutic processes. Psychedelics can increase openness and cognitive flexibility, and simultaneously provide an opportunity to revise negative fixed perspectives and self-beliefs. Subjects of psychedelic research consistently report a “marked reduction in defensiveness,…increased feelings of acceptance,…[and] an enhanced sense of connectedness”.

  • Is Ketamine Safe?

This treatment is legal, and it is safe. To date, the scientific literature has shown that being administered a psychedelic in a carefully prescribed and monitored setting can induce an experience that is both medically safe and that provokes profound, durable psychological and behavioral change.

You will be assessed by a medical provider who will determine the medical appropriateness of Ketamine for you.

  • Do You Take Insurance?

I do not accept insurance. I am an out-of-network provider, so I do not bill your insurance company directly but will provide a receipt (called a superbill) for the sessions you paid for. You may submit this superbill to your insurance provider for any out-of-network benefits you may have, and they will issue a reimbursement check.

I recommend contacting your insurance company to determine your out-of-network benefits before beginning therapy. The client is responsible for paying for their session at the time of service, regardless of insurance benefits.

  • Do You have Virtual Sessions?

Sure! I can offer virtual sessions on a secure platform thanks to changes and adaptations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Often, timing and availability can be such a barrier to receiving help. Being able to pop on a virtual session during your lunch break or your baby’s nap makes telehealth so convenient.

  • Do You Have a Cancellation Policy?

I do. To keep spots open and available for people, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
